Captain's Log - 24:00 2011.02.09

Aboard the Ourobourus,

I've begun logging my exploits in an attempt to keep my sanity whilst mining for hours on end. I've set up shop in the NAKREGDE system and have been mining KERNITE for Aerospace Corp, my employer. So far it has been fairly lucrative. I have managed to harvest, on average, 50k daily, but the local pirates are becoming ever more annoying. Rarely stealing anything, they tend to flip my cans just to tempt me into firing, just wasting my time. Soon, I have to begin moving most of my mining equipment to the SILEN system in time for an alliance led mining operation. Orca support is assured so the turnout should be decent. Although populated by numerous asteroids these belts are a little disheartening. I've opted to keep my ship free of human workers which I am now starting to regret. The old crews were interesting at best, but at least I had something else to watch other than my scanner's overview and cargo hold. My effieciency has increased since the departure of the crews and I no longer have to worry about human loses when a lucky pirate destroys my mining vessel, but it is lonely out in space. I never really cared much about the loss of human lives, albeit expensive to recruit, I just didn't like the attention that comes with dumping a few hundred corpses into space and being mandated to hire a recovery crew. The benefits just nevered seemed to outweigh the upkeep, let alone the social scrutiny. Granted the mega-corps aren't run by bleeding heart Gallente, but once public opinion is swayed stocks tend to follow. In Amarr space I never ran into trouble, but these pious fanatics place value on immaculate space and demand human remains cleared. Some capsuleers are able to hire human crews for next to nothing, but the work ethic of an overworked crew is apalling. But alas, the time has come to move to SILEN.
